Broken Relationships

Some of our unhappiest times are when we have broken relationships.  Whether this is between parents and children, husband and wife, siblings, or friends, broken relationships can mean broken hearts.  Betrayal, arguments, unforgiveness, misunderstandings, and condemnation are all instruments used to bring about separation and trouble between people.

Sometimes one or more parties to a division carry out resentments until they embitter themselves and everyone around them.  It can filter down into families and friends to the point that the longer that it is continued the more the bitterness and conflict grow until a mountain is built that cannot be climbed.  All of this may have started with a very simple misunderstanding that is blown out of proportion.  It is called building a mountain out a mole-hill.  Feuds have gone on for years and years; the main parties to the original problem have long since left this world and those who have followed them have kept it alive generation after generation.

So who do you think is behind all of this?  Did you know there is a spirit of separation?  A spirit of divorce?  A spirit of unforgiveness?  These are attributes of our enemy who goes about roaring like a lion; his weapon is to convince us with thoughts that we are abused, we are right and everyone else is wrong, that is not our fault, etcetera.

When we are brought into this world we are brought into a kingdom which exonerates ‘self’ first and foremost.  As children we are taught to think of others to some degree but always there is the self preservation which our spiritual leader helps us to perpetuate at the cost of relationships, good will, and right living in general.  Thank God that we have a choice.  A choice to go on living selfishly to our own degradation and the destruction of relationships or a choice to live selflessly promoting peace and harmony for ourselves and those around us.

In order to change our ways we have to change our spiritual leadership; we were born into the one of this world which is headed by the Creator’s enemy.  We call him Satan or the devil.  How did he acquire this world’s leadership you may ask.  It was done when he deceived the first woman whose husband did not take authority over him.  Adam had all control and he could have put a stop to it; however, he chose to go along with the deception and when he did he lost control.  He yielded his authority to Satan.

Since then any person born on this earth is subject to Satan and his spiritual leadership.  How great our Creator is because he gave us the power of choice; this allows us to choose His authority over the enemy’s and there is nothing this spiritual enemy can do if we make the choice to live under a new spiritual head.

All we have to do is acknowledge that He exists and ask Him to restore us spiritually.  He will give us His Holy Spirit who will enlighten us to His existence.  Then as we begin to seek our new spiritual Father, His Spirit will guide us and direct us.  His Son, Jesus, was the bridge that makes this possible for us to cross over.  Jesus offered Himself to come to earth as a man to live out a perfect life which is what the law requires before man can be accepted by a perfect and Holy God.

Do not make the mistake that God is a snob; His power emanates from Him in such a way that it destroys what is not perfect.  That is why we needed to be perfected so that His glory does not destroy us before we have a chance before Him.  Through Jesus we are seen as perfect and His perfection protects us.

Because God is all knowing He will know when we are sincere in our hearts to know Him; as we make the decision to ask Him to become our new spiritual leader, His Spirit will give us the right words to say or use the following prayer as a guideline.

God, the Father, I want to know who You are; if you exist as I think You do, please reveal yourself to me.  I want to live in harmony and peace; I want the divisions in my life to be restored so that separations no longer exist in my family or with my friends.  (Whichever the case may be.)  Help me to live so that I can bring peace and harmony to my life and the lives of those around me.  Help me to understand Your ways and to make them work for me.  In Jesus Name, I ask.  Amen.
