Loss Loss covers so many topics. And loss is ever present in the world in which we live. We lose friends, we lose loved ones to death or separation caused from a variety of reasons. There is the loss of livelihood, the loss of home, the loss of a business, the loss of valuable possessions and then there is a broad gamut of loss regarding our person such as loss of ‘face’ or the loss of our ego. One of the hardest of these losses to bear is the loss of our health. There is no escaping loss. We can even handle a great deal of loss and survive but one day and it may even be a small loss, we buckle under the mountain of loss. What is the answer to this dilemma? How do we face these losses? In order to solve any problem, we must understand what the root of it is and why it comes upon us. Always the answer is the same. We were born into a world of sorrow, loss, and evil because first of all, we are a spirit. Our spirit has a master; one who directs our path. Unfortunately, this is an evil spirit who wishes to ruin us, to destroy us. And why does he want to do that? Because he hates the master of all spirits. He wants to destroy His creation to retaliate; in short, to get even with Him. This evil spirit is a master at turning ourselves against ourselves; if we could trace our losses to their source, we would be very surprised that we were pitted against ourselves. In many cases, our losses are a result of what we have sown in the past; maybe as far back as childhood. Perhaps our attitudes, our way of thinking, and our reactions produce a boomerang which causes loss in our lives. As an example, our loss of health may come from the abuses of nutrition in our younger lives. Smoking, excessive drinking, over-eating. However, there are losses that come to test our faith and there are losses that test our stand on the Word of God. The greatest testimony for this view is the Book of Job in the Bible. He claimed his righteousness in the face of great loss. However, we know what he does not know. The angel of darkness stood before the Father and asked to test Job; he declared that God had put a hedge around him to protect him and that was the only reason Job served Him. Job was tested to see whether or not he would serve God if he lost all that he had, including his health. The happy ending is that he was exonerated and given back what he lost. Doubled! When the enemy is behind our loss there is no compensation; when we experience loss because of our stand for God, there is always a reward and a recompense. No matter the reason for our losses, we still can be overcome with them. Loss affects our emotions, will, our thinking process, and our spirits; even our bodies. Loss causes sorrow, grief, and mourning; it can be a step to depression because we are deeply wounded in our spirit. The first step in overcoming the effects of loss is to heal our spirits. Unless our spirits are healed, there is no healing to cover the soul, the mind, the emotions, or the body To find healing for our spirits we must have a new spiritual guide; a new spiritual leader who loves and does not destroy because of revenge. This new spirit who loves and guides us into victory, is God, the Father; the Creator of all things including us. Speaking of loss, we have been lost to Him and He has set out to find us and bring us back to Himself to live under His protection and to give us a sense of well-being even in times of loss. He is greater than the master of this world. He can restore unto us what has been lost; He can change our way of thinking so that we are not programmed to lose. Best of all, He erases our former desires for the things of the old system and gives us His gifts which equip us for life in our new kingdom. To become a part of God’s Kingdom, we must ask Him into our lives. The reason being that He created us with a free will; we can choose the kingdom that we were physically born into or we can choose to be a part of His Kingdom which was established through Jesus’ life and death on this planet. This is a spiritual birth not a physical one; remember, we are first of all spirit. A spirit that has a soul living in a body adapted for life on this planet. Only the body ages; not the spirit which is the reason why we feel as young in our minds as when we were children, yet our body wants to deny it. When this body dies our spirit and soul are free of this world but they do not die. They go to whichever kingdom was chosen while we lived on this earth in a physical body. Either to darkness which includes all the evils of this world for torment or to the light where all the good is personified for joy, peace, love. To ask Him to be our new spiritual leader,
we simply invite Him to be so:
God, I believe that You exist and I want to be a part of Your kingdom which Jesus established so that I have a choice of whom I will serve. I want You to be my new spiritual leader and change my life, reverse my losses, and change my desires. Reveal Yourself to me to confirm that You have heard me and help me to establish myself in Your Kingdom. Amen.
