Depression Our emotions dictate to us if we allow them to do so. We go by the way we feel instead of what is right or wrong. The enemy or the master of the world who is a spirit loves it when we go by our emotions because he can become extremely destructive through man’s emotions. Emotions can cause us to steal, lie, fail to forgive, to hate, give into lust; these emotions can cause us to kill, destroy, fail in our endeavors, and to work every kind of evil. However, we can yield our emotions to do good things, also. We love, we help others, we express sympathy, we forgive, and we can give because of our emotions. Some of us are not emotional enough and let greed and avarice rule us. As we can see there is a battle going on in our emotional department. Depression is when we are blinded into believing there is no hope which is a part of our emotional make-up. When hope is gone, we are subject to deep mourning which causes us to slip into depression. Once depression has a hold on us we can lose all perspective; we lose our desire to struggle and have a tendency to want to yield to the spirit who has descended upon us. There are various degrees of depression. If it becomes paramount within us it can lead us to self-destruction abandoning all hope of being restored. The blinds are drawn to even keep out the daylight as we are encouraged in this hopelessness by the spirit of the world system. There is no joy, there is no hope, there is no help because we shun it, and we do not want anything to do with the light. That in itself is a strong signal that help is needed. Another aspect of depression is to want to be alone, to abandon responsibilities, to be silent, sullen, and withdrawn. We can reject advice, help in any form, and even comfort from others. It sounds as though there is no way out for this sickness of the emotions which affects our mind, thinking, and doing. But there is a way! The spirit who rules the world system has been defeated in the spirit world and he has to obey the one who has defeated him. The one who defeated him is Jesus. After He died on the cross He went to hell and when the price was paid, He stripped this evil spirit of all of his power over mankind. When we believe that God is and ask Him to be Lord over our spirits, the spirit of Jesus enters ours so we become one with the victor; this entitles us to command the evil spirits to leave us and to take their depression with them. At times, we are so overwhelmed with this lack of hope that we cannot muster up the strength or even the desire to use our power; however, there is always someone waiting for instructions from the Holy Spirit to use that power on our behalf. Also, we have been given a weapon which will defeat this heaviness of spirit. It is the sacrifice of praise. Thanksgiving and praise will defeat this spirit of hopelessness. Because it is a sacrifice, we have to begin in our depression until that spirit is defeated. It is an effort! Again, it is important to accept Jesus
as our new spiritual leader or we have to bow before the spiritual leader
with which we have been born. This is why Jesus tells us in the Gospels
that we must be born again. We are born anew in His spiritual kingdom
which gives us the power over the one we were born into naturally.
This prayer can be an entrance into a new spiritual kingdom which is victorious
over spiritual darkness.
Jesus, I want to know that you are real; please reveal yourself to me. Open up my spiritual eyes and ears. Open up my spiritual understanding so that I may know you. I want to live in your kingdom and be victorious while I live in this world. I want to make a difference and help destroy the works of the enemy of mankind. I yield myself to you. I believe in you that you exist and that you came to give me a new way of life. Amen.
